Week 9

Week 9 Music:

During week 9 music, we didn't learn anything new. We worked on our compositions and gave them the last touches to complete them and create the final version of it. After we were both happy with what we have done, we decided to put an end to our project by applying our final steps and editing our composition.

Week 8

Week 8 Music:

During week 8 music, I continued to work on the composition with my partner. We both played it and also changed the composition up a little. We work on it together and formed a composition that we can present to others. We combined serialism and minimalism together in our composition. Both of these types of music helped us with our composition planning. We took part of other compositions from example Schoenberg and used them as examples in our own composition.

Week 7

Week 7 Music:

During week 7 music, I had to choose a partner and create a composition with the different types of techniques and types of music we learned in the past weeks. We decided to play the composition on the piano. The composition was created by another artist and we decided to play it for our project. Having only two more weeks left, we decided to first study the composition and then play it and try it out on the next few weeks.

Week 6

Week 6 Music:

We had to choose the work of art by Kandinsky as a stimulus and then also choose the compositional techniques studied which is cipher, serialism and minimalism. Week 5

Week 5 Music

In week 5 music, I have learned that serialism is a method or tecnique of composition that uses a series of values to manipulate different musical elements. I found out that serialism began primarily with Arnold Shoenberg's twelve-tone technique. During class, I looked at the compositions Arnold Schoenberg did and also watched a video about his composition. After, my task was to create my own 12-note row using the 12 individual tones. I also played the notes on the keyboard with the help of my partner that was woking with me. At last, I worked out the different rows associated with the 12 tones I have chosen.

Week 4

Week 4 Music:

In week 4 music,  I have learned what a chipper is and also when and where it is used in music. I learned that chippers were used by Johan Sebastian Bach & Dmitri Schostokovich first in music. Chippers are used for high pitch and also for the rhythm for the composition. I worked on different compositions during class that thought me more about how ciphers are used. I focused on inventing abstractions in music. I used cipher, serialism and minimalism to create my own abstract piece of music which includes the art work I have chosen. I have completed the serialism worksheet that was given for homework.  I have also learned about minimalism music and how it is used in music. As a class, we listened to the composition It's gonna rain. Minimalism was used in this composition by the artist. I did worksheets during the lesson to learn more about how minimalism music is used in compositions.

Week 3 Music:

In week 3 music, we presented are presentations about the collaborations between artists. My partner and I have done a presentation about an artists named 'Justin Maller' that has collaborated with a music writer 20syl . We talked about the background of both of the artists and also gave images to give the audience a good brief of what both artists look like. We also put in a video about both artists collabing with each other in it. We gave information about the compositions of the artist 20syl. After the presentations we reflected on how we did and also listened to others feedback's.

Week 2

Week 2 Music:

During week 2 music, my partner and I did research about the artists we made a presentation of that collaborated with each other. We split the slides and gave each other tasks so that the work was shared and even between us. We focused on giving detailed information about the artists and the work they have done. We researched pictures of the artists and got information about them from the web. The rest of the work was completed at home by both of us.
